The song was written and composed by MØ and Noonie Bao alongside MNEK, who produced the song. "Final Song" was released through Sony Music Entertainment and premiered on BBC Radio 1 on 12 May 2016 at 7:00 PM BST at Annie Mac. It was released on YouTube the same day and on iTunes Store the following day. It has reached the top 5 in Denmark,the top 20 in Norway and and the United Kingdom, the top 40 in Australia, and the top 100 in Sweden.
