Aurora - Half the World Away
[Verse 1]
I would like to leave this city
This old town don't smell too pretty and
I can feel the warning signs running around my mind
And when I leave this island
I'll book myself into a soul asylum
I can feel the warning signs running around my mind
[Chorus]
So here I go
I'm still scratching around in the same old hole
My body feels young but my mind is very old
So what do you say?
You can't give me the dreams that are mine anyway
You're half the world away
You're half the world away
[Verse 2]
And when I leave this planet
You know I'd stay but I just can't stand it and
I can feel the warning signs running around my mind
And if I can leave this spirit
I'll find me a hole and I'll live in it and
I can feel the warning signs running around my mind
[Chorus]
So here I go
I'm still scratching around in the same old hole
My body feels young but my mind is very old
So what do you say?
You can't give me the dreams that are mine anyway
You're half the world away
You're half the world away
"Half The World Away" was released on November 6, 2015 for the deluxe version of AURORA's debut album All My Demons Greeting Me As A Friend. Originally written by Noel Gallagher of Oasis, it was released for a Christmas advert for John Lewis, a UK department store. The ad, called "Man On The Moon", features a young girl, Lily, who uses her telescope to locate an elderly man who lives alone on the moon. The ad aimed to raise awareness about loneliness and encourage people to reach out to older family, friends and neighbors. The ad raised money for the charity Age UK. In the official charts, it reached number #4 in Scotland, number #11 in the United Kingdom and number #22 in Ireland. The song also reached 16th position on Euro Digital Song Sales, the main sales chart in Europe.
