Pink Floyd - Breathe

Breathe, breathe in the air
Don't be afraid to care
Leave but don't leave me
Look around and chose your own ground
For long you live and high you fly
And smiles you'll give and tears you'll cry
And all you touch and all you see
Is all your life will ever be
Run, run rabbit run
Dig that hole, forget the sun,
And when at last the work is done
Don't sit down it's time to dig another one
For long you live and high you fly
But only if you ride the tide
And balanced on the biggest wave
You race toward an early grave.

The second track in Pink Floyd’s The Dark Side of the Moon, segued into from the opening track, “Speak To Me”, along with being the first we here lyrics on the album. This track is loosely based off Roger Waters' and Ron Geesin’s performance on “Breathe,” a track made and recorded for the 1970 documentary, The Body. This version saw no help from Geesin, a composer who previously worked on Atom Heart Mother only three years before. Instead, this song is credited to David Gilmour, Richard Wright and Roger Waters. It is one of Pink Floyd’s most well-known songs, despite being fairly short. The track is reprised two tracks later, on “Time”.
