Banks makes a comeback with her sultry witch-pop in “Fuck With Myself” as the first offering from her sophomore album, due in September of 2016. It was the last song that she wrote for the new record. This single follows “Better,” a late 2015 release that promotionally complemented her tour dates with The Weeknd. “Fuck With Myself” premiered as Zane Lowe’s World Record on Beats 1 Radio. During her interview with Lowe, Banks talked about the song’s birth, particularly its title: I was diving into my fear. Sometimes you just dive into overthinking, and I guess I was just venting. My dear friend and collaborator Tim Anderson was in the studio with me and after I was done with my little rant, he was like, “Do you want me to read you some of the statements that you just said?” I didn’t wanna hear it. And then he said, “You said, ‘I fuck with myself more than anybody else.’” It felt so perfect for that day and I needed it so bad, and I gave it to myself.
