Seven Foot Wave

Seven Foot Wave, led by singer/songwriter Michael Berns, burst onto the scene back in the summer of 2003 when the demo for their song Catalina began receiving recognition and radio play by indie stations. Since then, the band, whose wide range of influences including The Police, Sublime, and No Doubt, has spread its California blend of rock, ska, and reggae with considerable success, appearing with two songs on the very popular MTV's "Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County" DVD, a show whose characters have continued on to star on the show MTV's "The Hills," featuring L.C. (Lauren Conrad). The notoriety they received from being on the Laguna Beach DVD's soundtrack helped them sell more than 100,000 songs from their original release "Better than Sunshine" in online stores like iTunes, Napster, and Rhapsody.

The band was nominated for "Best New Indie" band at the Southern California Music Awards in 2006. In an interview after the music awards, lead singer Michael Berns said he owes much of his success to the inspiration he received when the Beatles came back in 1996 with Anthology, and also tipped his hat to Rivers Cuomo of the band Weezer. Michael claims to have gone out to purchase his first electric guitar after hearing Cuomo's "Pinkerton" record. Influences from Weezer can be heard on Seven Foot Wave songs like "Catalina," "This One," and "Fall Too Fast," which feature soaring power chords juxtaposed with well delivered, melodic choruses.

The band's first music video for their song "Jump Into This" (The Dog Wedding Music Video), features top male model Jason Strubel and the sexy real-life attorney, Meghan Blanco, making her on screen debut. The video was winner of "Best Music Video" at the Los Angeles DV and HD Festival in 2008.

The album cover for their latest release "The Way We Came," features artwork that successfully spoofs the well known poolside Absolut Vodka print ad called "Absolut L.A.," changing the Absolut pool into a pool shaped like a 7.
