Monika Bagárová, born on July 5, 1994 in Brno, Czech republic, is a Czech pop singer. She rose to fame thanks to the 2009 edition of the Czecho-Slovak version of American Idol, known as Česko-Slovensko Hľadá Superstar.
Her main influences are Esperanza Spalding, Erykah Badu, Jane Monheit, Steve Wonder or Christina Aguilera. She was born to a musical family and as a child her main focus was dancing. She started singing at the age of 7. Her father, a drummer, founded a jazz trio which she joined and soon started touring the local clubs. At the age of 9, Monika and her band played the ''Gypsy Celebration'' festival. She entered the Czecho-Slovak version of American Idol at the age of 14, where she finished 5th.
Her first studio album, Shining, was released in 2011.
