Willow - t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l feat. Travis Barker

[Intro]
One, two, three, four

[Verse 1]
I don't fucking know if it’s a lie or it's a fact
All your little fake friends will sell your secrets for some cash (Hey, hey)
Smile in my face, then put your cig out on my back
If you ever see me, just get to runnin' like the Flash

[Pre-Chorus 1]
I knew a boy just like you
He’s a snake just like you
Such a fake just like you
But I can see the truth

[Chorus]
Transparent soul
I can see right through, just so you know
Transparent soul
I can see right through, just so you know

[Verse 2]
I don't fucking know if it's paradise or it's a trap
Yeah, they're treating me like royalty, but is it kissin' ass? (Hey, hey)
No one's brave enough to take the fall right
But it's all your fault, why you actin’ like it’s alright?
[Pre-Chorus 2]
I knew a girl just like you
She was vain just like you
Such a pain just like you
And everybody knows the truth

[Chorus]
Transparent soul
I can see right through, just so you know
Transparent soul
I can see right through, just so you know

[Bridge]
It's clear to me now
You’re scared of me, wow
It's clear to me now (Transparent soul)
It's clear to me now
You're scared of me, wow
It’s clear to me now (Transparent soul)

[Chorus]
Transparent soul
I can see right through, just so you know
Transparent soul
I can see right through, just so you know

“t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l” is the first track off of WILLOW’s fourth studio album "lately I feel EVERYTHING", but was released as a single on April 27, 2021. The title is stylized in a very unique way, with spaces in between all the letters. The pop-punk track features iconic alternative rock band Blink-182’s drummer, Travis Barker. When speaking to Rolling Stone, WILLOW explained that the track was inspired by a quote from Hindu guru Radhanath Swami. The song’s unique style was influenced by the likes of Avril Lavigne, Paramore, and Fall Out Boy as well as her own mother’s nu-metal band Wicked Wisdom. "I am so grateful for this tune because it was created in such an introspective time [during the first couple months of quarantine]. It was the song that proved to me that I needed to let go of the insecurities I had about making a project of this genre." - via Complex When speaking to Rolling Stone, WILLOW said that the title was inspired by a quote from Hindu guru Radhanath Swami: "It is said that a saintly person is so pure that he or she acts like a mirror. When we come in the presence of a mirror-like soul, we can see both the beauty and ugliness of of our inner life." WILLOW told Barker in an October 2021 conversation for Rolling Stone: "I didn’t even think for a second that you were going to be on ’t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l.‘ That was kind of like a far-fetched fever dream for me. When I actually got in contact with you, I was so honored by the fact that you were even interested. What about ’t r a n s p a r e n t s o u l’ inspired you enough to get on it at all?" Barker answered: "I was so impressed. I was like, ‘This is what she should have been doing all along, because it sounds so natural.’ It sounds like who you are, every time I’ve met you or I’ve been around you. Then, when I got into the studio and added some stuff to it, had an idea for a bridge or whatever, it turned out to be a song I was really proud of."
