POORSTACY released Make Up to his SoundCloud on March 11th, 2019, marking a new turn in his career, with the song being his first career-landmark. With the final version’s production being from Internet Money producer Nick Mira, the song was able to pull in over 35k plays in less than 24 hours on SoundCloud. Over a month after releasing Make Up, the song’s music video would be released via Internet Money Records and TenThousand Projects only to be removed soon after without explanation. The music video was directed by Edward Allerton and produced by Jimmy Regular, who has most notably worked with Machine Gun Kelly to co-direct the el Diablo music video. Over a year after Make Up’s release, the music video was uploaded via dailymotion by POORSTACY’s verified account where it remains. Under the name Lito Xantana, POORSTACY released the original version of the song in 2018, being produced by Trillogy in collaboration with guitarist and producer Mad Kelly. Make Up depicts POORSTACY’s involvement in a toxic relationship. He describes the girl constantly making him sad and keeping him in pain but his desire to want a stable relationship with her. POORSTACY talks about resorting to drug abuse before confronting the situation at face value, as in the chorus of the song.
