Of Monsters and Men - Dirty Paws

Jumping up and down the floor,
My head is an animal,
And once there was an animal,
It had a son that mowed the lawn,
The son was an okay guy,
They had a pet dragonfly,
The dragonfly it ran away,
But it came back with a story to say.

Hey!

Her dirty paws and furry coat,
She went down the forest slopes,
The forest of talking trees
They used to sing about the birds and the bees
The bees had declared a war
The sky wasn't big enough for them all
The birds they got help from below,
From dirty paws and the creatures of snow.

~ Music Break ~

So for a while things were cold,
They were scared down in their homes,
The forest that once was green,
Was coloured black by those killing machines,
But she and her furry friends,
Took down the queen bee and her men,
And that's how the story goes,
The story of the beast with the four dirty paws!

La la la, la, la la la, la, la la la la la, la la la, la la la la, la la
La, la la la la.

Hey!

Ooh, Ooh, Oooh.

Hey!

Ooh, Ooh, Oooh

Hey!

Ooh, Oooh, Oooh.

"Dirty Paws" is a song written and recorded by Icelandic band Of Monsters and Men for their debut studio album, "My Head Is an Animal". It is the opening track and the title of the album comes from a line in the song, and was released as its second single in April 2012 in the United Kingdom, Ireland and Europe. It was featured in the trailer and soundtrack to "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty". A lyric video to the song was released in 2014. The video features a large two-legged creature carrying a flag through an Icelandic mountainscape, with squadrons of phoenix-like birds flying in the sky. It fits with the lyrics of the song, “The sky wasn't big enough for them all" and “The birds, they got help from below.”
