Mother Mother - Arms Tonite
[Verse]
I fell in your arms tonight
I fell hard in your arms tonight
It was nice
I died in your arms tonight
I slipped through into the afterlife
It was nice
White light in your arms tonight
I lost sight in your arms tonight
It was nice
[Chorus]
And hey, you, don't you think it's kinda cute
That I (I) died (Died) right inside your arms tonight
That I'm fine even after I have died
Because it was in your arms I died
[Verse 2]
I cried in the afterlife
I cry hard because I have died
And you're alive
I try to escape afterlife
I try hard to get back inside
Your arms alive
"Arms Tonite" is the tenth song from Canadian indie rock band Mother Mother’s second album, O My Heart. The opening chorus could be likened to falling in love or being too high. Some also argue that since la petite mort – is a french term for an orgasm that literally translates to “a little death”, it could allude to an orgasm. However, the band has not confirmed this is what the song is about. The implication is that the singer had to cause their “little death” themselves (masturbation), which lines up with the line about them dying and their lover being alive – they experienced post-orgasm death, but their lover did not.
