Marina - Homewrecker

[Verse 1]
Every boyfriend is the one
Until otherwise proven
The good are never easy, the easy never good
And love, it never happens like you think it really should
Deception and perfection are wonderful traits
One will breed love, the other, hate
You'll find me in the lonely hearts
Under 'I'm after a brand new start'

And I don't belong to anyone

They call me homewrecker, homewrecker
They call me homewrecker, homewrecker

[Verse 2]
Girls and their curls and their gourmet vomit
Boys and their toys and their six inch rockets
We're all very lovely 'til we get to know each other
As we stop becoming friends and we start becoming lovers

And I don't belong to anyone

“Homewrecker” is a track from Marina and the Diamonds’s sophomore studio album, Electra Heart. From Amazon’s track-by-track analysis of the album, Marina talked about the song’s meaning: “It’s about the power of an image: looking sweet whilst secretly being a total bitch and getting away with it!” In a track-by-track interview about Electra Heart, Marina said: "'Homewrecker’ is kind of a response to ‘Lies.’ In that, I think some people like to play the victim–for me, it’s quite embarrassing. And so I wanted to turn the tables and create a character-type that was more like the slayer than the slayed. Songs like ‘Bubblegum Bitch,’ ‘Homewrecker,’ and ‘Primadonna’ all go together in a trio.'"
