Cage the Elephant - TROUBLE

Ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh, ooh-ooh
Ooh, ooh-ooh

[Verse 1]
We were at the table by the window with the view
Casting shadows, the sun was pushing through
Spoke a lot of words, I don't know if I spoke the truth

Got so much to lose
Got so much to prove
God, don't let me lose my mind

Trouble on my left, trouble on my right
I've been facing trouble almost all my life
My sweet love, won't you pull me through?
Everywhere I look, I catch a glimpse of you
I said it was love and I did it for life (didn't do it for you)

“Trouble” is about Matt Shultz' struggles throughout his life, and how he has found solace in love. In interviews, Matt has been vocal about his childhood, stating that he did not grow up with much money. He explains in the interview how he has always been surrounded by troubles, but he asks and hopes that his love will be there for him. These troubles may also include his uncertainty of succeeding in the music world. However, there is uncertainty in his love’s willingness to help. It is likely that the love to which Matt is referring is his then-wife and French actress, Juliette Buchs. “Trouble” was certified gold by the RIAA on August 16, 2019.
