Bring Me the Horizon - Throne

[Verse 1]
Remember the moment,
You left me alone and,
Broke every promise you ever made.
I was an ocean,
Lost in the open,
Nothing could take the pain away
.

[Chorus]
So you can throw me to the wolves!
Tomorrow I will come back,
Leader of the whole pack
.
Beat me black and blue!
Every wound will shape me,
Every scar will build my throne
.

[Verse 2]
The sticks and the stones that,
You used to throw have,
Built me an empire,
So don’t even try
To cry me a river
Cause I forgive you,
You are the reason I still fight
.

[Chorus]
So you can throw me to the wolves!
Tomorrow I will come back,
Leader of the whole pack
.
Beat me black and blue!
Every wound will shape me,
Every scar will build my throne.

So you can throw me to the wolves!
Tomorrow I will come back,
Leader of the whole pack.
Beat me black and blue!
Every wound will shape me,
Every scar will build my throne.

[Bridge]
I’ll leave you choking,
On every word you left unspoken
.
Rebuild all that you’ve broken,
And now you know
...
I’ll leave you choking,
On every word you left unspoken.
Rebuild all that you’ve broken,
And now you know,
Every wound will shape me,
Every scar will build my throne.

[Outro]
So you can throw me to the wolves!
Tomorrow I will come back,
Leader of the whole pack.
Beat me black and blue!
Every wound will shape me,
Every scar will build my throne.

“Throne” is the first official single released for Bring Me The Horizon’s upcoming album That’s The Spirit, even though the tracks “Drown” & “Happy Song” were released earlier. Keyboardist Jordan Fish told Rolling Stone that the song represents a completely new musical and emotional space for the band: It’s one of the most simple and straightforward songs we did…It’s got some elements we had on the last album [2013’s Sempiternal], with an up-tempo rhythm and really strong melodies. So it seemed like an obvious choice for the first single because it’s so immediately catchy and has such a good level of energy Thematically, Fish explains further that That’s The Spirit emphasises a much more positive outlook on life than previous BMTH material. Everyone has their own issues and anxieties, and mostly the new songs are about accepting them and trying to remain positive because there’s nothing else you can do.
