Avril Lavigne - Bite Me

[Intro]
Eh-oh
You shoulda known better, better to fuck with someone like me
Eh-oh
Forever and ever, you're gonna wish I was your wifey

[Verse 1]
Don't act so innocent, this was no accident
You planned this in the end and now it's over
Say what you wanna say, you lied and I got played
You threw it all away and now it's over

[Pre-Chorus]
Just face it, we didn't make it
You bit off more than you can chew, can you taste it?

[Chorus]
Eh-oh, you should've known better, better to fuck with someone like me
Eh-oh, forever and ever you're gonna wish I was your wifey
Should've held on, should've treated me right
I gave you one chance, you don't get it twice
Eh-oh, and we'll be together never, so baby, you can bite me

[Verse 2]
Don't hold your breath 'cause you're still chokin' on your words
Those things you said might be the last ones that I heard
So come pick up your clothes from the front yard
Sprinklers on, burn the rest in the backyard
Shoulda had the guts to say goodbye
Now you're gonna have regrets for the rest of your life
[Pre-Chorus]
Just face it, we didn't make it
You bit off more than you can chew, can you taste it?

[Chorus]
Eh-oh
You shoulda known better, better to fuck with someone like me
Eh-oh
Forever and ever, you're gonna wish I was your wifey
Shoulda held on, shoulda treated me right
I gave you one chance, you don't get it twice
Eh-oh
And we'll be together never, so baby, you can bite me

[Bridge]
I bet you taste me on the tip of your tongue
Tip of your tongue, tip of your tongue
I fell fast when I know I should've run
Know I should've run, know I should've run
I bet you taste me on the tip of your tongue
Tip of your tongue, tip of your tongue
I fell fast when I know I should've run
Know I should've run, know I should've run

[Chorus]
Eh-oh
You shoulda known better, better to fuck with someone like me (Like me)
Eh-oh
Forever and ever, you're gonna wish I was your wifey (Your wifey, yeah, yeah, yeah)
Shoulda held on, shoulda treated me right (Yeah, yeah, yeah)
I gave you one chance, you don't get it twice
Eh-oh
And we'll be together never, so baby, you can bite me

"Bite Me" is the lead single from Avril Lavigne's seventh studio album, Love Sux. It was released on November 10, 2021 and was noted by critics as a return to Lavigne's pop-punk roots. The song peaked at number 63 on the Canadian Hot 100 and number 61 on the UK Singles Chart. While quarantined at home during the pandemic, Lavigne told American Songwriter that she had begun working on new music, which she hoped to release sometime in 2021. That December, Lavigne posted a photo on Instagram of her in a recording studio with Mod Sun and Machine Gun Kelly, leading to speculation that the trio was working on music together. "Flames", a Mod Sun song featuring Lavigne, was released on January 8, 2021. The following month, Lavigne confirmed on Instagram that she had finished working on her new album, and that she would release new music that summer.
