Michaela Anne is an American musician from Brooklyn, New York, currently living in Nashville, Tennessee.

Michaela Anne's music resembles the diversity of her upbringing and evokes the ever-changing landscape of American life she witnessed first hand as a traveling child of the military. Growing up in a military family meant living as a modern day gypsy - traveling the American terrain as well as abroad. Always active musically - whether playing the piano, the violin, singing or playing the guitar - she picked up musical influences as diverse as the places she lived. From this combination of diverse influences came her own compositions beginning at a young age. Now planted firmly in Ditmas Park, Brooklyn (a neighborhood with an imagined taste of country life in a city borough) she has found a city, and band, that are perfect outlets for her many influences and original musical stylings.
Her songs weave stories of the hardships and pleasures in life, notably influenced by the American military family lifestyle - blending country, blues and folk with heartfelt lyrics and a powerful vocal delivery. Relatively new on the scene, she has already had the privilege of sharing the stage with great New York based musicians such as Clay Ross (Matuto, April Verch), Michael Daves (Steve Martin, Chris Thile, Rosanne Cash), Scott Metzger (Rana, Kelli Scarr), Jeff Ratner (Langhorne Slim), Marc Friedman (the Slip, Surprise Me Mr. Davis), Danny Molad (Elizabeth and the Catapult), Kristin Andreassen (Uncle Earl), the Spring Standards, Tony Leone (Olabelle), as well as opening for The Diamond Doves, Lady Lamb and the Beekeeper and Frontier Ruckus.
Her debut album To Know Where, recorded by Jesse Lauter (The Low Anthem, Elvis Perkins), Diko Shoturma and Scott Kettner, consists of songs of the soul-searching questions her nomadic upbringing inspired. The leading track To Know Where features backing vocals by Willie Nelson’s Farm Aid regular Jesse Lenat and Taken Away features guitar and backing vocals from Michael Daves (Steve Martin, Chris Thile, Rosanne Cash). The full-length album was self-released in April 2011.
