You Don't Miss Your Water

The Very Best Of William Bell
soul stax rhythm and blues Southern Soul 60s

William Bell (born 16 July 1939) is an American soul singer and songwriter. As a performer, he is probably best known for his debut single 1961's "You Don't Miss Your Water" and 1968's top 10 hit in the UK "Private Number", a duet with Judy Clay. One of the finest of the Stax/Volt soul artists, he was, like Otis Redding, able to tell a story with great sincerity and flawless musicality. His song "You Don't Miss Your Water ('Til Your Well Runs Dry)" is a Memphis masterpiece. Show more ...

You Don't Miss Your Water - William Bell

In the beginning
You really loved me
I was too blind
I couldn't see

But now you've left me
Oh, how I cried
You don't miss your water
Your well run dry

I kept you crying
Sad and blue
I was a playboy
I wouldn't be true

But when you left me
And said bye-bye
I miss my water
My well ran dry

I sit and wonder
How can this be
I never thought
You'd ever leave me

But now you've left me
Oh, how I cried
You don't miss your water
Your well run dry

You don't miss your water
Your well run dry
