Sockets - Slaves

Sockets

Are You Satisfied?
british duo 2015 single bbc radio1 playlist 2015

It's a song about a girl who is atractive and it's a kind of curse, however it's not her fault she can’t buy her own drinks and be self-sufficient due to a low paying (or no) job. It isn’t the girl’s fault that someone finds her attractive but she won’t return their advances – so out of shame and/or denial they blame it on her for lack of a better excuse. It’s a typical instance of ‘slut shaming’.

Slaves refers to more than one artist: 1) Slaves are a two piece lo-fi garage band from Kent, signed to the Virgin EMI label. Isaac Holman (Vocals, Drums) and Laurie Vincent (Guitar, Vocals) released their debut mini-album "Sugar coated bitter truth" through Girl Fight Records in July 2012. Where's Your Car Debbie?, Hey and The Hunter, were all released in 2014. "ARE YOU SATISFIED?", the duo's first full length album, was released in June 2015, preceded by the three track 7" Feed The Mantaray in February. Show more ...

Sockets - Slaves

[Chorus]
It wasn't her fault
She makes sugar taste like salt
Cause she was so sweet
Now you're shuffling your feet with your hands in your pockets
It wasn't her fault
She makes sugar taste like salt
And when she walked in the room
You could hear your eyes rolling round in their sockets
Their sockets, their sockets, their sockets

[Verse 1]
She doesn't know if it's a blessing or a curse
Money in her hand but never any in her purse
Looking at the crowd thinking "who's it gonna be?"
"Who's the lucky boy that's gonna quench my thirst?"
It wasn't her fault, no she didn't have a say
Spending every second wishing they would go away
Tying up her shoes is becoming a problem
But that's the way it is and that's the way it's gonna stay

[Chorus]
It wasn't her fault
She makes sugar taste like salt
Cause she was so sweet
Now you're shuffling your feet with your hands in your pockets
It wasn't her fault
She makes sugar taste like salt
And when she walked in the room
You could hear your eyes rolling round in their sockets
Their sockets, their sockets, their sockets

[Verse 2]
You can point the finger but she's not the one to blame
For chemical reactions that are starting in your brain
Looking at the crowd thinking "who's it gonna be?"
"Who's the lucky boy that's gonna ease my pain?"
It wasn't her fault, no she didn't have a say
Spending every second wishing they would go away
Tying up her shoes is becoming a problem
But that's the way it is and that's the way it's gonna stay

[Chorus]
It wasn't her fault
She makes sugar taste like salt
Cause she was so sweet
Now you're shuffling your feet with your hands in your pockets
It wasn't her fault
She makes sugar taste like salt
And when she walked in the room
You could hear your eyes rolling round in their sockets
Their sockets, their sockets, their sockets

[Bridge]
It wasn't her fault
It wasn't her fault
It wasn't her fault
It wasn't her fault
It wasn't her fault
It wasn't her fault
It wasn't her fault
That you could hear your eyes rolling round in their sockets
