Money is a song from British progressive rock band Pink Floyd's 1973 album, The Dark Side of the Moon. It is the only song on the album to hit the top 20 in the United States charts. On the original LP, it opened the second side of the album. It was written by Roger Waters. The guitar solo is ranked number 62 on Guitar World's "100 Greatest Guitar Solos". "Money" is notable for its introductory passage of cash registers dinging and coins clinking, much like "Time". However, unlike "Time", the 'money' sounds were recorded specifically for the album, and are featured in a 7/4 beat rhythm. "Money", a riff-driven song, is notable for the unusual 7 beat time signature. The song is also notable for its dramatic change to 4/4 time for an extended guitar solo, after which the song returns to 7/8, then ends in 4/4. Get a good job with more pay
And your O. K.
Money, it's a gas
Grab that cash with both hands
And make a stash
New car, caviar, four star daydream
Think I'll buy me a football team
Money get back
I'm all right Jack
Keep your hands off my stack
Money, it's a hit
Don't give me that
Do goody good bullshit
I'm in the hi-fidelity
First class traveling set
And I think I need a Lear jet
(Sax and guitar solos)
Money, it's a crime
Share it fairly
But don't take a slice of my pie
Money, so they say
Is the root of all evil
But if you ask for a rise
It's no surprise that they're
Giving none away
"Hu Huh! I was in the right!"
"Yes, absolutely in the right!"
"I certainly was in the right!"
"You was definitely in the right. That geezer was cruising for a bruising!"
"Why does anyone do anything?"
"I don't know, I was really drunk at the time!"
"I was just telling him, he couldn't get into number 2. He was asking
Why he wasn't coming up on freely, after I was yelling and
Screaming and telling him why he wasn't coming up on freely.
It came as a heavy blow, but we sorted the matter out"
