Cinnamon Girl - Neil Young

Cinnamon Girl

Greatest Hits
classic rock rock singer-songwriter Neil Young 70s

Young has never said who the Cinnamon Girl is. He prefers to leave lyric interpretations to the listener. This song got Young in trouble with his wife. He had to explain that the Cinnamon Girl was just a person he came across while touring. Young recorded this with his band Crazy Horse. This was originally released on the album in 1969. Young put out an alternate version as a single in 1970, which did well partly because he was getting exposure as a member of Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young. The band Type O Negative did a remake of this on their 1996 album October Rust. This song was also covered by Smashing Pumpkins on the Reel Sessions bootleg. Cinnamon Girl was also covered by the band Killdozer on their 1985 album "Snake Boy".

Young was born in Toronto, but he moved to the family home of Winnipeg as a child, which is where his music career began. Young began performing as a solo artist in Canada in 1960, before moving to California in 1966, where he co-founded the band Buffalo Springfield along with Stephen Stills and Richie Furay. Cinnamon Girl - Neil Young

I wanna live
With a cinnamon girl
I could be happy
The rest of my life
With a cinnamon girl.

A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together,
Chasing the moonlight,
My cinnamon girl.

Ten silver saxes,
A bass with a bow
The drummer relaxes
And waits between shows
For his cinnamon girl.

A dreamer of pictures
I run in the night
You see us together,
Chasing the moonlight,
My cinnamon girl.

Pa sent me money now
I'm gonna make it somehow
I need another chance
You see your baby loves to dance
Yeah... Yeah... Yeah.
