Wake Up - Mad Season

Wake Up

Above
Grunge alternative rock rock seattle 90s

This song, together with "River of Deceit", started the project Mad Season. Mike McCready met bassist John Baker Saunders while they were both in rehabilitation in Minneapolis, Minnesota. They wrote this song in 1994 in Seattle, Washington, and there they met Barret Martin. McCready then brought in friend and Alice in Chains frontman Layne Staley to round out the line-up. Layne's friend had hoped that being around sober musicians would push Staley to get himself sober. Unfortunately, that did not work. Layne Staley died later in 2002 of wasting from heroin addiction. * Barrett Martin – drums * Mike McCready – guitar * John Baker Saunders – bass * Layne Staley – vocals, guitar (1994–1997)

Formed in late 1994 Mad Season was a Seattle rock supergroup, made up of members from Pearl Jam, Screaming Trees, The Walkabouts and Alice In Chains. Their one album, Above, was released in 1995. The band went on permanent hiatus in 1996. Although not officially members of the band, Mark Lanegan of Screaming Trees performed vocals on I'm Above and Long Gone Day, and Skerik of Critters Buggin, Les Claypool's Fancy Band and The Meters (among others) performed saxophone on Long Gone Day. Wake Up - Mad Season

Wake up young man, it's time to wake up
Your love affair has got to go
For 10 long years, for 10 long years
The leaves to rake up
Slow suicide's no way to go, oh
Blue, clouded grey
You're not a crack up
Dizzy and weakened by the haze
Moving onward
So an infection not a phase
Yeah, oh

The cracks and lines from where you gave up
They make an easy man to read, oh
For all the times you let them bleed you
For little peace from God you plead, and beg
For little peace from God you plead
Ahhaahh, Yeah, Ahhaahh, Yeah, Ahhaahh, Yeah

Wake up young man, wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up
Oh, yeah

Wake up young man, it's time to wake up
Your love affair has got to go, yeah
For 10 long years, for 10 long years,
The leaves to rake up
Slow suicide's no way to go, oh
Slow suicide's no way to go
Wake up, wake up, wake up
Wake up, wake up, wake up
