Stone Free - Jimi Hendrix

Stone Free

All The Hits
classic rock rock psychedelic 60s blues

Stone Free is a song by The Jimi Hendrix Experience. It was the first song that Jimi Hendrix wrote after he arrived in England. It was recorded on November 2, 1966 and released first in December 1966 as the B-side of Hendrix's first single "Hey Joe". In December 1969 "Stone Free" was released as a single in the US, backed with "If 6 Was 9". The song is one of the few songs by Hendrix being in standard tuning. The bassline for the song was borrowed from the Mar-Keys song "Philly Dog". Some sources state this song as being one of the earliest forms of Heavy Metal music, because of it's over-driven guitar chords and solo, and the song's loudness. Supergrass recorded a cover of the song that was available on a limited-edition 7" vinyl companion disc to certain packagings of the 12" vinyl release of their debut album, I Should Coco. Stone Free: A Tribute to Jimi Hendrix was also the name of a 1993 Jimi Hendrix tribute album featuring his songs performed by various artists, including Eric Clapton, Living Colour, The Cure and Pretenders.

James Marshall "Jimi" Hendrix (born Johnny Allen Hendrix; 27th November at Seattle's King County Hospital, 1942 - 18th September 1970) was a U.S. guitarist, singer, and songwriter. Hendrix was not very popular in the U.S.A. at the outset of his musical career, only later gaining recognition after taking a trip to England in 1966 with The Animals' Chas Chandler, where he subsequently formed The Jimi Hendrix Experience with bassist Noel Redding and drummer Mitch Mitchell. Stone Free - Jimi Hendrix

Everyday in the week I'm in a differnet city
If I stay too long people try to pull me down
They talk about me like a dog
Talkin' about the clothes I wear
But they don't realise they're the ones who's square

Yeah!
And that's why
You can't hold me down
I don't want to be tide down I gotta move
Hey

I said
Stone free do what I please
Stone free to ride the breeze
Stone free, baby I can't stay
I got to got to got to get away
Yeah

Listen here baby
A woman here a woman there try to keep me in a plastic cage
But they don't realise it's so easy to break
Yeah buta sometimes I get a ha
Feel my heart kind a gettin' hot
That's when I got to move before I get caught

So dig this
And the is why, listen to me baby, you can't hold me down
I don't want to be tied down
I gotta move on

I said
Stone free do what I please
Stone free to ride the breeze
Stone free I can't stay
Got to got to got to get away
Yeah
Tear me loose baby

Hey
