Unsung - Helmet

Unsung

Meantime
alternative metal alternative rock hardcore Guitar Hero hard rock

"Unsung" is a single by rock band Helmet from their 1992 album, Meantime. It is the album's fourth track and easily the band's most well known song. A music video was produced for "Unsung" and found significant airplay on MTV in the early 1990s. The song's popularity has had it featured in many successful video games including Guitar Hero, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas, Madden 10, True Crime: New York City and Saints Row 2. "Unsung" is recorded in Dropped D tuning and begins with a bass guitar solo. Its stop-and-go dynamics and catchy rhythm made it somewhat of a flagship of the growing '90s alternative metal scene. It was also reportedly influential to Pantera's similar song "Rise"; however, both songs were released in very close proximity. The song has been covered by The Wildhearts on their new album of covers, Stop Us If You've Heard This One Before, Vol 1.

Unsung - Helmet

Your contribution left unnoticed some
Association with an image
Just credit time for showing up again
Attention wandered I'm left with it

Gone by sin too slowly
Can't pass it up
Then I thought nothing is right
I turned it off

To die unsung would really bring you down
Although wet eyes would never suit you
Walk through no archetypal suicide
Die young is far too boring these days

Your will to speak clearly
Exposed too much
Unsung once too often
Could not rub off
