Co-singer/guitarist Ed Droste recalled to Drowned in Sound: "The earliest written song on the album and one of the favorites. Dan just came in one day, and presented it to us." (Source While You Wait For The Others Songfacts)

Grizzly Bear is a rock band from Brooklyn, New York. Their music uses melody and ambience in conjunction with hazy-eyed choruses, whistles, piano, banjo, and several woodwind instruments. Grizzly Bear was originally the solo project of Edward Droste (vocals/guitar), who recorded his debut album Horn of Plenty at home. The record was originally meant for his friends, but it eventually circulated and got a proper release in 2004, this time with the help of Christopher Bear (drums/vocals). Show more ...

While You Wait for the Others - Grizzly Bear

While you wait for the others
To make it all worthwhile
All your useless pretentions
Are weighing on my time
You could beg for forgiveness
As long as you like
Or just wait out the evening
You'll always ask me why
Yes you'll only bleed me dry
So I'll ask you kindly to make your way

And what was there
The perfect cleft
We all fall through

While you wait on the answers
That I'll pretend to find
Keeping up with emotions
Still occupies our time
You could hope for substance
As long as you like
Or just wait out the evening
You'll always ask me why
Yes you'll only bleed me dry
I'll ask you kindly to make your way

And what was left
The perfect cleft
We all fall through

And all we want

And what was there
And what was there
And what was there
