Paperthin Hymn - Anberlin

Paperthin Hymn

Never Take Friendship Personal
rock alternative rock emo alternative christian rock

When I say my work is inspired by poetry I mean it, several lines are inspired by long dead poets from around the world. This song is about my Oma who passed away my Junior Year of college, she was so strong. She never told any of her family that her heart was so thin she could have died at any moment the last 9 years of her life. She called my family every Sunday morning, it is a tradition I miss; she passed away an August evening in her kitchen in St. Joseph, Michigan.

Anberlin was formed in 2002 in Winter Haven, FL, USA and disbanded after the release of their final album, lowborn, in 2014. Their debut album, Blueprints for the Black Market, was quite successful. Spurred on by popular singles Readyfuels and Change the World, it sold over 60,000 copies and raised Anberlin's profile. They released their sophomore album, Never Take Friendship Personal, in February 2005. The album was praised by critics, garnering favourable reviews and winning the band new fans. Show more ...

Paperthin Hymn - Anberlin

When your only friends are hotel rooms
Hands are distant lullabies
If I could turn around I would tonight

These roads never seemed so long
Since your paper heart stopped beating leaving me suddenly alone
Will daybreak ever come?

Who's gonna call on sunday morning?
Who's gonna drive you home?
I just want one more chance
To put my arms in fragile hands

I thought you said forever
Over and over
A sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion
These thoughts run through my head
Over and over
Complaints of violins become my only friends

August evenings
Bring solemn warnings
To remember to kiss the ones you love goodnight
You never know what temporal days may bring
So laugh, love, live free and sing
When life is in dischord
Praise ye the lord

Who's gonna call on sunday morning?
Who's gonna drive you home?
I just want one more chance
To put my arms in fragile hands

I thought you said forever
Over and over
The sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion
These thoughts run through my head
Over and over
Complaints of violins become my only friends, friends

I thought you said forever
Over and over

This sleepless night becomes bitter oblivion
These thoughts run through my head
Over and over
Complaints of violins become my only friends
I thought you said forever
Over and over
These thoughts run through my head
