Your Decision - Alice in Chains

Your Decision

Black Gives Way to Blue
Grunge alternative rock rock hard rock metal

“Your Decision” is a song by Alice in Chains, featured on their fourth studio album Black Gives Way to Blue (2009). It was released as the third single from the album on November 16, 2009 in the UK, and was released in the US on December 1, 2009. The fourth track of the album, “Your Decision” is a power ballad that features an acoustic rhythm and breaks from the dark, aggressive leanings of the previous songs in exchange for an emotional tone that, while muted and perhaps tinged with sad resignation, can also be interpreted as calmer and more at peace. The single has, so far, reached number one on the Billboard Rock Songs chart, number one on the Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, and number four on the Alternative Songs chart. This makes Alice in Chains the first artist to have two songs top the US Rock Songs chart. In an interview for the making of the video of “Your Decision”, Duvall stated “This song is all about choices and their consequences”. Many fans believe this song was written from Cantrell to the late Layne Staley, who couldn’t kick his addiction to drugs. Staley died in 2002.

Alice in Chains is an American rock band from Seattle, Washington, formed in 1987 by guitarist/vocalist Jerry Cantrell and drummer Sean Kinney, who then recruited bassist Mike Starr and lead vocalist Layne Staley. Starr was replaced by Mike Inez in 1993. William DuVall joined the band in 2006 as co-lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist, replacing Staley, who died in 2002. The band took its name from Staley's previous group, the glam metal band Alice N' Chains. Show more ...

Your Decision - Alice in Chains

Time to change has come and gone
Watched your fears become your god
It's your decision

It's your decision

Overwhelmed you chose to run
Apathetic to the stunned
It's your decision

It's your decision

You feed the fire that burned us all
When you lied
To feel the pain that spurs you on
Black inside

No one plans to take the path that brings you lower
And here you stand before us all and say it's over

It's over

(Solo)

It might seem an afterthought
Yes it hurts to know you're bought
It's your decision

It's your decision

You feed the fire that burned us all
When you lied
To feel the pain that spurs you on
Black inside
It's your decision

It's your decision

No one plans to take the path that brings you lower
And here you stand before us all and say it's over

It's over

It's over...
